HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY CHIMNEY BE SWEPT?

As a minimum it is recommended that you have your chimney swept at least once a year.

Specific intervals will largely depend upon factors such as the type of fuel used, the appliance that you have, the duration and frequency of it's use and the type of chimney.

The National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NAC's) provide the below sweeping frequencies for guidance purposes only:-

  • Smokeless fuel: At least once a year

  • Wood: Quarterly when in use

  • Bituminous coal: Quarterly when in use

  • Oil: Once a year
